ReACT is an acronym for Rapid Eccentric Anaerobic Strength and Core Trainer. I have to be honest, I'd never seen anything like this at my gym. It came to my attention when a Facebook friend posted this video of Coco using one. Coco is a television personality, glamour/fitness model, actress, dancer, author, fashion designer, entrepreneur and internet sensation. She is best known for her ample derriere which was proven to be 100% real on the show "The Doctors" in February 2012, and also her marriage to rapper/actor Ice-T.  The video was getting a lot of reaction. So I had to check it out for myself.

More and more we're hearing about interval training, also known as HIIT, high intensity interval training. Interval training used to be something mainly pro and high level athletes were aware of. But now it is becoming recommended and standard, for all levels of fitness from beginners to advanced. Interval training is simply alternating between bursts of intense activity with intervals of lighter of activity. Speeding up and slowing down your heart rate. You can burn more calories and improve your aerobic capacity. This type of training is especially effective if you want to burn fat and boost your metabolism. It is also effective in building lean muscle tissue and keeping the body burning calories for up to 48 hours. The other great thing about interval training is that it can be done in as quick as 10 minutes. There's just one catch, you have to push yourself hard.

At the gym there's every kind of machine for many different activities. From rowing to running, elliptical to climbing stairs.  All enticing us to climb on board and get our sweat on. While searching out all the different ways to burn calories is on our radar, many of us need to be careful with our knees and backs. Even the young should bear this in mind because many years later the effects of our sports or work outs can take it's toll on the body. Hence, a low-impact or non-impact workout is ideal.
