SOL REPUBLIC Relays
If you are anything like us, you have probably gone through a good chunk of earbuds trying to find the perfect companion for your workouts. Oh to find an earbud that will stay in place AND deliver decent sound. This is by no means an easy task, especially for under a hundred bucks.
SOL REPUBLIC’s new Relays model promises to be the sports earbud that we have been looking for so very long. So we took our units out of the box and put them to the test on a run and at the gym.
FitEDM RECOMMENDS: Louisahhh!!! Shares 5 Workout Mixes
The Relays come with a selection of ear tips to get you sized up perfectly, a small rip-stop carrying case, a one-button or three-button control and a removable clothing clip.
The Relays stayed put in both workout environments and were especially impressive on our running test as most ear buds tend to slip out when the sweat starts coming. The ear buds themselves are a little more invasive than most but that helps keep the snug and secure fit that prevents “sweaty fall-out” syndrome.
So what about the sound? We really only tested them with EDM and across all the sub-genres they performed pretty well for a bud at their price point. Drum and Bass and some of the crazier Dubstep were the only genres that tended to get a little muddled up. The more four on the floor tunes sounded pretty solid from techno to house, and we were happy with the all around clarity. There was also enough bass to keep any EDM fan happy while on the go.
If you are looking for a pair of in-ear headphones that are light, stay-put during your workout (even running) and deliver some solid sound for your workout mix, all for under a hundred bucks the Relay’s are for you.
